The image of the Phoenix rising in rebirth from the ashes has long captivated me. I felt that the image was very fitting to be placed on a kimono made of delicate, flowing silk. This turned into an ongoing project as I added another phoenix and then another. At this time the kimono is appliquéd with a total of five of the motifs. There are four on the front and one on the back of the garment. All of the silk appliqué pieces were hand dyed. Some of the pieces are padded with silk batting to give a raised effect to the final piece. This garment was made as part of a presentation in a national magazine. It remains in my collection of fabric art, is in perfect condition and is for sale to the right person. Please contact me for further information. |
