Apron Embroidered with Lunaria Motif designed by artist Elizabeth Bonerb for Handmade Magazine, 1975
One day a friend showed up at my studio with an unbelievably wonderful gift. He had been cleaning out an attic and discovered a box of beautiful muslin that had been perfectly packed away since WWI. This was unlike any muslin that I had ever seen before. It was coarse and slubby, but soft and durable. Over the next few years I got lots of mileage out of that treasure. This apron embroidered with seed pods of the lunaria plant(silver dollars as they are known when dried) was one of the finished items.
